Who it is for
People buying, building or renovating a home in Melbourne. Families preparing a nursery or a child’s bedroom. Anyone sleeping poorly, working from home, or living with asthma or allergies who wants to know whether the house is part of the problem. Older adults planning to stay at home for longer, and their families.
You don’t need to own the home. We also assess rentals, and focus on changes a tenant can make or reasonably ask for.
Melbourne homes
Melbourne’s cool, damp winters bring their own problems: cold bedrooms, condensation on windows, and damp corners where mould can take hold. Many homes still cook and heat with gas, which adds nitrogen dioxide to indoor air. Older, draughty houses lose heat, while newer, tightly sealed ones can hold on to stale air. In summer, heat and smoke from bushfires or planned burns can reach the city.
None of this is visible from a checklist. It shows up in the readings.
What we look at
We log conditions over several days and nights, inspect for moisture and mould, and review heating, cooling, ventilation, range hoods and lighting. For homes not yet built, we review the plans.
